SUSTAINABLE / NATURAL / PROGRESSIVE BUILDING

A natural building is any building system which places the highest value on social and environmental regeneration. By combining local, unprocessed materials like earth, straw, stone, bamboo and unmilled timber with a rich global tradition of indigenous building, nearly anyone can learn to build an inexpensive and personalised home.

All hard structures within the gardens (i.e. shelters, sheds, nursery, fencing, seating, etc) shall be composed with natural and non-toxic materials.

A number of straw bale structures will compliment the Mt. Burrell Gardens and serve as a permanent display of natural building demonstration and design.

The straw bale structures will be a first for the Tweed Shire, therefore creating high levels of curiosity from local and surrounding areas.
